Our most important asset!
We have taken time and patience to build a dedicated and professional team across all aspects of our business.
You can meet our team in the section below, so that you can find out who can help you or just to put a face to a name.
I am Whitefoord’s Chief Executive Officer, having founded the firm in 2000. I manage the business on a day-to-day basis with our team of professional managers. I also act as a strategic investment and financial consultant to a number of the firm’s Clients. Some of them were Clients of my previous consulting actuarial firm nearly 40 years ago.
First and foremost, I am a family man. When my friends were having grandchildren, I was unbelievably fortunate to meet my wife and be blessed with four children in the next five years. I love sport, both playing and watching and my great passion is skiing. I am driven at work and find great joy working with like-minded people and helping my Clients.
I joined Whitefoord in 2011 when the Partnership acquired my consultancy business that I had set up in 1998, having formerly been the CEO of a UK listed financial services company. I retired from executive duties as Head of Account Management at the end of March 2018, but remain a Partner and a member of the Management Board, enabling me to continue my involvement in the development of the firm and the people in it.
I was a financial adviser for 40 years and a regular commentator on personal finance matters in the Financial Press, TV and radio. Over the years I had also been closely involved in the regulation of the Financial Services Industry, sat on the Membership and Disciplinary Committees of the Personal Investment Authority and was subsequently a member of the Regulatory Decisions Committee of the Financial Services Authority. Hailing from the North East, I am cursed to be a Newcastle United supporter and I also enjoy theatre and music in general, with a particular passion for guitars.
I became a Partner in 2010 and am responsible for Human Resources and Training and Competence within the firm. I am responsible for setting the strategic people agenda to ensure we have the right people in the right roles, performing at their best. I believe in creating a working environment that allows people to do a great job.
I have gained a wealth of HR and Development experience in large organisations at both a strategic and operational level during my career, as well as having worked as a Consultant for SME’s. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and particularly love the safari trips that I’ve taken to Africa which I wish I could do every year!
I have been with Whitefoord since mid-2002, firstly as one of our two original investment managers, and in recent years as our Chief Investment Officer. I have managed the LF Cautela Fund since its inception in 2006, and am ultimately responsible for all our Investment Strategies. In my capacity as Head of our Investment Strategy Committee, I largely author the views we share with our Clients about investment markets, the World economy and politics.
I began working in the City in 1996, starting as an equity and bond trader, before moving to work exclusively with private Clients, firstly as a stockbroker and then as an investment manager at Whitefoord.
