Our most important asset!
We have taken time and patience to build a dedicated and professional team across all aspects of our business.
You can meet our team in the section below, so that you can find out who can help you or just to put a face to a name.
I have chaired the Management Board of the Partnership since 2010. I am not a Partner and therefore bring an independent perspective to the affairs of the business, focusing particularly on governance and its effective operation, as well as the strategic direction of the business. The formal Board meetings are quarterly with ad hoc meetings as necessary, and there is regular informal contact between myself and senior members of the team.
I qualified as an actuary and my career has been primarily in life assurance; I was Chief Executive of Friends Provident Plc from 1997-2006 and retired as Chairman of Rothesay Life in 2016. I have served on Boards in a number of European countries. Working part time now allows me to spend more (frustrating) time on my golf handicap, as well as some (delightful) time with my wife looking after four young grandchildren. I enjoy the theatre, skiing and weekly seven a side football.
I am Whitefoord’s Chief Executive Officer, having founded the firm in 2000. I manage the business on a day-to-day basis with our team of professional managers. I also act as a strategic investment and financial consultant to a number of the firm’s clients. Some of them were clients of my previous consulting actuarial firm nearly 40 years ago.
First and foremost, I am a family man. When my friends were having grandchildren, I was unbelievably fortunate to meet my wife and be blessed with four children in the next five years. I love sport, both playing and watching and my great passion is skiing. I am driven at work and find great joy working with like-minded people and helping my clients.
I joined Whitefoord in 2011 when the Partnership acquired my consultancy business that I had set up in 1998, having formerly been the CEO of a UK listed financial services company. I retired from executive duties as Head of Consultancy at the end of March 2018 but remain a Partner and a member of the Management Board, enabling me to continue my involvement in the development of the Firm and the people in it.
I was a financial adviser for forty years and a regular commentator on personal finance matters in the Financial Press, TV and radio. Over the years I had also been closely involved in the regulation of the Financial Services Industry, sat on the Membership and Disciplinary Committees of the Personal Investment Authority and was subsequently a member of the Regulatory Decisions Committee of the Financial Services Authority. Hailing from the North East I am cursed to be a Newcastle United supporter and I also enjoy theatre and music in general, with a particular passion for guitars.
I am the Company Secretary for Whitefoord LLP and its subsidiary companies and have legal oversight for all contractual matters and general governance. I also assist Vince with his clients and general day-to-day work.
Originally from Norwich, I moved to London to complete my legal studies and have worked at Whitefoord since 2008. Out of the office, I am in the midst of a three year house renovation project; I also love to cook, enjoy wine and cheese and have taken my first qualification with the West London Wine School.
I have worked in financial services for 40 years, with 30 of those in regulation and compliance. I am responsible for mentoring and monitoring the firm’s compliance with often complex rules and regulations. Whilst every employee is responsible for compliance, I will help them to understand what is required of them to ensure that all of our customers are treated fairly and that we continue to act in their best interests.
As well as being a Chartered Wealth Manager and Chartered Financial Planner, I am a Pensions Advisory Service volunteer adviser and have appeared on BBC Radio 4 Money Box as their Compliance Expert. My wife (also a volunteer adviser with Citizens Advice) and I are long distance walkers and can be frequently seen on the South Downs and other National Trails.
I became a Partner in 2010 and am responsible for Human Resources and Training and Competence within the firm. I am responsible for setting the strategic people agenda to ensure we have the right people in the right roles, performing at their best. I believe in creating a working environment that allows people to do a great job.
I have gained a wealth of HR and Development experience in large organisations at both a strategic and operational level during my career, as well as having worked as a Consultant for SME’s. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and particularly love the safari trips that I’ve taken to Africa which I wish I could do every year!
My primary responsibility is working as the firm’s financial controller, which covers several areas such as financial, management and regulatory reporting. I am also responsible for reporting to various external supervisory bodies and I work closely with the firm’s external auditors. The nature of this finance position requires I sit on different boards and committees across the firm.
After university, I completed my Chartered Accountancy qualification whilst working within a top ten accountancy firm in the City. During this time I worked with a number of regulated clients within financial services, across various finance and regulatory functions. After finishing my training I pursued the next step in my career and joined Whitefoord in 2012 as Head of Finance and I subsequently became a Partner in 2015. I find it rewarding to see new people join and grow within the firm. Having been at Whitefoord since inception, I am the go-to person within the firm. In my personal time, I enjoy skiing, reading, snorkelling (especially in the Maldives) and entertaining friends with some very basic cooking!

I grew up on the Isle of Wight, and whilst it will always be close to my heart, I came to London and don’t plan on leaving for a while! Often described as a social butterfly, I love to see my family and friends whilst exploring and discovering tasty restaurants, drinking scrumptious cocktails and seeing as much of London and the world as possible.
